Abhyanga is the Ayurvedic practice of self oil massage. The practice involves massaging your entire body in warm oil, which promotes relaxation, skin hydration, lymphatic movement and drainage. This grounding and nourishing practice is great for all doshas, but particularly beneficial for soothing the Vata dosha, and during Vata season (late Fall and early Winter).
Made with a blend of Sesame and Coconut Oils, topped with Organic Essential Oils of Sacred Sandalwood, Grounding Vetiver, Palo Santo, Frankincense, and Myrrh.
*I recommend first using a Dry Brush on the entire body, using long strokes towards your heart center and circular movements on knees, elbows and stomach. Next, warm your oil in a hot water bath (the sink works great for this) and then use your hands to generously massage your body, paying extra attention to your hands and feet. Allow the oil to sink in for at least 15 minutes (this is a great time to incorporate a meditation practice). Finish off with a warm shower and pat yourself dry.
